Beth Hardy is a nationally board-certified music therapist and Utah state-certified music therapist who has been practicing since 2008. Beth is also a trained birth doula and postpartum doula, and she specializes in Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth. Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth is the use of very specific, carefully designed music programs during labor and birth. This use of music, in addition to the support of the doula/music therapist, helps to promote a birth experience that is calm, safe and supportive for mom and baby.
Beth currently works with clients in long term care, hospice, adult day health care, cancer treatment, residential treatment facilities for teens, and labor/delivery. In 2016 Beth helped to start the first-ever music therapy program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, and currently works there part-time.
Beth received her bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2007 and completed her internship at the Veterans’ Home of California in Yountville, CA. Before moving to Salt Lake City in 2015, Beth was living in the San Francisco Bay Area and working at the Palo Alto VA Hospital. While there, Beth had the opportunity to provide music therapy to veterans of all ages and abilities, including those in inpatient psychiatry, blind rehabilitation, PTSD treatment, long term care, and hospice.
Beth is a member of the American Music Therapy Association, Western Region Music Therapy Association, Utah Association of Music Therapists, and Utah Doula Association.
