Help save the Sunshine Terrace Day Center!
Dear [Music Therapist],
Yes, a voice from the past - but one that is looking
into the future as
well! I am writing to ask each of you a favor which
concerns The Day Center
and the many wonderful people we serve here, as well
as the opportunity we
have had to assist in the training of all of you who
are/were working
towards a career in music therapy.
The Day Center is not a money-making "business."
The hard, cold fact is
that we have operated on the losing end of profit
since we moved into this
lovely new building. The Board of Directors for
Sunshine Terrace is
considering closing down The Day Center operation.
However, as you know
very well, I feel passionately sure that the service
we provide to the
people of our community - not only those who attend
here, but their families
as well - is of value above and beyond money! I
also feel that it has
served well in offering students from the USU Music
Therapy program, a
unique and valuable place to gain experience. I
believe that the Board
needs to know that there is community support for
what we do!
If you feel that we provide something of value,
would you be so kind as to
write a letter stating your opinions and reasons
(as
strongly as possible!)
to:
Jeff Adair
130 S. Main, Ste. 200
Logan, UT 84321
The letters need to arrive in Mr. Adair's office
before the next Board
meeting, which is April 25.
Thank you - each of you - for your association as
well as your consideration
in this matter.
Sincerely,
Annette O. Longhurst, MT-BC
Sobering News
Our music therapy friend Trudy Hansen Middleton has recently passed away. She was involved in a car accident Friday, May 19, 2007, where both her and her 12-day-old infant boy were killed. Her
husband, also in the car, survived with severe injuries.
Below is a link to the Deseret News article and a
KUTV video of Trudy's legacy.
This news has really impacted so many people. Trudy has touched so many lives and she will be greatly missed. She was a happy, talented and deeply compassionate person. She truly blessed
all who knew her and will be missed.
A fund has been established in Trudy's memory. Anybody who would like to donate may contact Tony Ollerton at music@xmission.com. Proceeds will help further the work that Trudy started.
