Chelsea Hamilton
Chelsea recieved her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Therapy in August of 2006, following the completion of her internship at Bethany Children's Home in Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania. Here, she worked with adolescents and teens with emotional and behavioral disorders, and served her peers as the head music therapy intern.
Since graduating, Chelsea has worked with women with eating disorders at the Center for Change in Orem, UT; adult, adolescent, and child psychiatry at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute in Salt Lake City; as well as with older adults for hospice care through the Music Therapy Associates of Utah (now the Center for Expressive Therapies) in Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo.
In the fall of 2007, Chelsea began developing a new music therapy program at the University Hospital, on 5 West, an adult inpatient medical psychiatric unit. Chelsea loves her work and enjoys using music to increase reality orientation, alleviate anxiety and depression, and to provide reality-based and success-oriented music activities to promote wellness and healing in patients suffering from mental illness. Chelsea has found working with the mentally ill to be challenging as well as rewarding, and thoroughly enjoys her work.
