Jaycie Voorhees

Jaycie Voorhees received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Therapy from Utah State University in May of 2007, and completed her internship with the Center for Expressive Therapies in Salt Lake City. Here, she worked with a wide variety of populations including psych, geriatrics, special needs, eating disorders, hospice, and behavioral health.
 

After the internship Jaycie began full time work immediately at Jordan Valley School in Midvale, Utah. In this Center-Based school for kids with disabilities she works with 113 clients age 5-22 with various disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down's Syndrome, Medically Fragile, Seizure Disorders, and various other Syndromes. 

She also marketed for and implemented a Music Therapy Group Treatment Program for kids with Autism through the Center for Expressive Therapies and continued leading this until February of 2009. In March of 2009 she created a private practice out of her home called Harmony Music Therapy. She sees private clients with Autism and other disabilities in this setting as an addition to her work at Jordan Valley School.

Jaycie is a strong advocate for the field of Music Therapy and has opened several positions and programs in Utah. Some of these include Superior Home Care and Hospice, Autism Journeys, CET Autism Groups, and her own Harmony Music Therapy. She has presented at the Carmen B. Pingree Parent Training Conference and the Family Links Conference, and provides informational seminars, presentations, and inservices for both her colleagues as well as local organizations. She has worked with the Autism Council of Utah, Autism Journeys, Pingree School, the Utah Parent Center, the Center for Persons with Disabilities, Spectrum Academy, and The Children's Center in various formats to promote Music Therapy.
