Tricia Turner

Tricia Turner, MT-BC, is a Board Certified Music Therapist working in Utah Valley. She graduated Cum Laude from Utah State University in August 2002, where she received a Bachelor of
Science degree in Music Therapy.
In 2002 Tricia completed her six-month clinical internship in San Diego with Barbara Reuer, Ph.D., MT-BC, director of MusicWorx of California, and former president of the National Association of Music Therapy. This was a rich experience for Tricia and she says that she could not have asked for a better internship. She had the opportunity to work with ten different music therapists, providing a wide variety of styles and approaches to implementing music therapy techniques. In addition to this, Tricia was also able to work with the following populations: substance abuse, developmental delays, Rett Syndrome, oncology patients in the hospital, in-patient psychiatric, support groups, and hospice. Shortly after moving to Provo from San Diego Tricia passed the music therapy board certification exam.
Tricia’s main instrument is the piano, though she also plays the guitar. Since graduating, Tricia has been using her music therapy skills at Hearthstone Manor, an assisted living facility in Spanish Fork, where she works as the activities director. She also has her own private practice contracting with several facilities in Utah Valley to do music therapy. She is also teaching piano. Tricia continues to do music therapy presentations to various groups and facilities in order to
further educate people about music therapy.
